Q 1:

What mobile phones are supported?

Ans:

The vast majority of existing handsets in circulation, particularly the most common Nokia models are supported. The barcode is delivered as a picture message. We support both the Nokia and EMS picture message formats. Note that the new multimedia picture messaging (MMS) is not required.

Q 2:

What about handsets that do not support picture messages?

Ans:

For text-only handsets, the message can be downgraded to a text message containing the barcode number. e.g. <12345670>. This number can simply be keyed-in instead of scanning.

Q 3:

What information do I need to send a barcode?

Q 4:

What if I don't know the handset model?

Ans:

This can be captured when the consumer registers via one of the channels mentioned above. On the web, for example, the make and model can be selected from a check box or drop-down list.

Q 5:

What barcode standards do you use?

Ans:

The technology supports many barcode symbologies including the predominant EAN-8 (8 digit) and EAN-13 (13 digit) standards and the 2D barcodes. Due to constraints of the size of the display on the most common handsets, the EAN-8 symbology is recommended. This ensures comprehensive support from the handsets in circulation.
